JBS USA Contributed Towards Hike and Bike Trail Extension

JBS USA contributed $500,000 toward the expansion of a hike and bike trail to the JBS Grand Island facility. The existing trail was expanded eastward by one mile and is now 10-feet wide and constructed of 6-inch thick concrete. In addition to providing a safe, eco-friendly route to work for team members of JBS Grand Island, this project also extended the path for community exercise and enjoyment.

JBS Grand Island hosted a groundbreaking for the hike and bike trail on March 29, 2022, including a special appearance from Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele.

JBS USA Investment Enhanced Eagle Scout Park

A JBS USA contribution of $500,000 expanded the sports fields to include a new playground with a splash pad, a concession stand and restrooms. The completed project provides facilities for families who attend the park for Little League games, as well as for those residents who simply want to enjoy a premier park in Grand Island with their children.

JBS USA Donation Helped Remodel Early Childhood Education Learning Center

JBS USA donated $400,000 to remodel the Early Childhood Education Learning Center, which provides preschool education for more than 460 students, ages 3-4, more than 90 of whom are the children of JBS USA team members. Many of these students are high-risk in terms of learning abilities. The center will also include a gymnasium and playground.

A $250,000 donation from JBS USA funded the renovation of the aging Northwest High School auditorium. The renovation included replacing curtains, track hardware, rigging, seating and carpet, repainting ceilings and walls and upgrading sound and lighting.

A JBS USA gift of $200,000 helped fund homebuilding for JBS USA team members through Habitat for Humanity. This investment funded the construction of two new homes – after which, Habitat used the mortgage payments to fund additional home-building into perpetuity.

JBS USA Investment Supported Improvements to Grand Island Literacy Council Facility

This JBS USA investment supported improvements to the new Grand Island Literacy Council facility. Many JBS USA team members seek assistance from the GILC to learn the literacy skills necessary to communicate and thrive, as well as to become U.S. citizens. These services are free of charge. Since it opened in 2007, the GILC has served more than 680 JBS Grand Island team members and provides onsite ESL classes to supervisors.

This JBS USA investment supported the purchase of a Jaws of Life for the Chapman Volunteer Fire Department, for which three current JBS USA team members volunteer. Chapman, Neb., is a rural community located near Grand Island. The addition of Jaws of Life equipment allows for more rapid response to emergencies in rural Chapman, where 25 team members also live.

A JBS Prepared Foods investment of $127,000 supported the restoration of the Centro Pastoral Tepeyac, home of the Hispanic Ministries offices of the Archdiocese of Omaha. JBS USA supported the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands South Club by sponsoring the JBS Kid’s Café cafeteria. The Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands South Club is utilized by JBS Omaha team members who have children. The facility, which is located in south Omaha, where many team members live, provides free childcare, meals and computer access.
